Donate to the WTS to support our ongoing initiatives to elevate the field of cardiothoracic surgery, elevating women in thoracic surgery, embracing diversity and replacing exclusion with inclusion. You may also specify where your donation is applied. You can give to the General Fund that will be applied to an area of greatest need. It can help fund the day-to-day operations of WTS, networking events, receptions, and speakers for example. You may select a specific WTS Scholarship. A list of scholarship options is listed in the drop-down menu.
The WTS Scholarship Committee has awarded over 100 scholarships since its inception in 2005. Each scholarship costs WTS between $1,650.00 and $10,000.00. Several of our awards support a woman medical student or resident to attend a National Annual Meeting (STS, WTSA, STSA). The students and trainees are provided one-on-one mentoring by a volunteer WTS surgeon member at the national annual meetings. Our traveling scholarships support a surgeon to travel to learn a new skill or an opportunity to visit a women cardiothoracic surgeon mentor by traveling to the mentor’s institution for an elective period of time. Our research Award supports basic science, clinical and/or healthcare related interest for women in their mid-career. Your donation will contribute to all expenses related to funding this award including, but not limited to, travel expenses (air & ground), scholars’ meal expenses, hotel lodging and registration when required. By awarding annual scholarships, the WTS is fulfilling one of our stated missions to enhance the education of women thoracic surgeons.
